What is Greens Powder?

You may have seen this new trend all over social media. Maybe your favorite health or beauty gurus are promoting this product on their pages.  It’s more likely than not that you have heard of or used Greens powder.

Ingredients in Greens Powder

A greens powder is a dietary supplement derived from the vitamins and nutrients that come from different fruits and vegetables, like leafy greens/seaweed, pineapple, coconut, carrot, beet, etc.  It is easy to incorporate into a daily routine, because they can easily be mixed into water, smoothies, or other drinks.  They are perfect for people who are on the go and are trying to include more fruits and vegetables and vitamins into their diets.  Greens powders are a great source of iodine, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and much more.  

How to Effectively Use Greens Powder

The supplement can be beneficial in many ways, however, it is important to note that it should not completely take the place of fresh produce.  Because the powder is being made from dried fruits and vegetables, a lot of naturally occurring components and vitamins are lost in the process, such as fiber.  It should be used as a supplement, meaning that it should support and provide extra nutrients to one’s diet, not replace it.  

The Benefits of Greens Powder:

  • Blood Pressure: Because greens powders contain calcium and potassium, they can be helpful in regulating blood pressure.  Those who deal with high or irregular blood pressures should try this out and see if they notice any differences.
  • Better Poops: Greens powders can assist in more regular and healthy stool.  If a powder contains probiotics, it can certainly help to relieve any constipation.  It can also improve overall gut health.
  • Weight Loss: There have been claims that regular intake of greens powder can result in better, regulated metabolism and therefore noticeable weight loss.  
  • Better Skin: Greens Powders have been popping up on social media platforms, like Tik Tok, because beauty influencers have been advertising it as being able to clear up their skin of any acne and fine lines/damage.  In addition, it has also been shown to be effective in growing healthier skin and nails.
  • Bloating: The supplement has also been said to reduce bloating, and this once again, is due to its properties that result in better metabolism.  

The only potential negative side to greens powders is that they may not be effective for everyone.  Some people may not see any changes or benefits, however, it is very unlikely that anyone would see any adverse effects from the greens powder.  Therefore, it is not risky at all to try it out!  Best case scenario, you experience these great benefits.  Worst case, you don’t see any effects.  There isn’t anything to lose in trial!
