Manage Your Perimenopause Symptoms with Optional Therapies

Women may take into account a number of alternative remedies to treat their perimenopause symptoms. Although the efficacy of these treatments varies, they might offer some comfort to women who would rather forego hormone replacement therapy or other medical procedures.

Before attempting any alternative medicine, it’s crucial for women to explore the potential advantages and disadvantages with their healthcare physician.

Optional Therapies for Perimenopause

Herbal Remedies

Certain plants, such red clover and black cohosh, are frequently used to treat perimenopause symptoms. These plants have substances that imitate how estrogen behaves in the body, regulating hormone levels and easing hot flashes, mood swings, and other symptoms. Although there is conflicting evidence regarding their efficacy, some herbs may have negative side effects or interact with other drugs.

Acupuncture

During acupuncture, tiny needles are inserted into predetermined body sites to encourage the passage of energy and advance healing. Further study is required to support some studies’ findings that acupuncture can reduce hot flashes, sleep problems, and other perimenopausal symptoms.

Yoga and mindfulness meditation

Practices like yoga and meditation have been proven to lessen stress, worry, and depression, which can worsen perimenopause symptoms. It is a good idea to have a backup plan in case your first plan is not working.

Dietary changes

Symptoms may be lessened by a few meals and supplements. Increasing your consumption of soy products, flaxseed, and omega-3 fatty acids, for instance, may help balance your hormones and lessen hot flashes. Supplements with calcium and vitamin D may also be advantageous for bone health.

Exercise

Hot flashes, mood swings, and weight gain are perimenopause symptoms that can be reduced with regular exercise. Aerobic exercise, strength training, and yoga have all been shown to have positive effects on menopausal symptoms.

It’s crucial to remember that complementary therapies shouldn’t be utilized in place of medical care, and women should talk to their doctor about any concerns they may have. A mix of medical treatment and lifestyle adjustments may be the most effective way for controlling symptoms of perimenopause.
