The Top 3 Perimenopause and Menopause Skincare Lines to Consider

There are a variety of skincare products that claim to be anti-aging, women are not aging—they are simply undergoing hormonal changes. Therefore, when a woman’s estrogen production decreases, it can cause skin changes during perimenopause and menopause. Once estrogen production decreases, so does collagen production.

These two factors reduce the skin’s elasticity, thickness, and natural moisture. These changes cause skin may become drier, itchier, and more sensitive—as wrinkles and age spots become more noticeable.

Pause Well Aging

Pause Well-Aging was founded by Rochelle Weitzner in 2019 after Rochelle experienced her first hot flash. She realized that there were no beauty companies that were making products specific to women who are undergoing the three stages of menopause (perimenopause, menopausal, and postmenopausal).

The brand is rooted in the idea of well aging, and was developed with the purpose to naturally increase collagen production through a combination of vitamins, antioxidants, and peptides.

The skincare line includes four products: Complete Face Serum to hydrate skin and reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles; Detox Serum for cleansing; Collagen Boosting Moisturizer to increase collagen production and elasticity; and Moisture-Lock Ultra Hydrator to hydrate and soothe dry and irritated skin. The line is vegan and hormone-free, decreasing risks of reactions for sensitive skin.

No7 Beauty

No7 Beauty is a consumer-led beauty business by Walgreens Boots Alliance in the UK in 1935. The brand offers affordable premium cosmetic and skincare products to women.

Walgreens launched their menopause skincare collection which was co-created with over 7,000 menopausal women. In 2022, during the research stage, the results claimed to reduce the appearance of dry and dull-looking skin in just one week with the continuous use of the collections serum, day serum, and night cream.

The collection includes five products: Protect & Hydrate day cream to hydrate sensitive skin for smooth and even-looking skin; Instant Radiance Serum to improve the appearance of collagen-diminished skin for firmer and more radiant skin; Nourishing Overnight Cream to hydrate dry, sensitive skin for moisturized and refreshed looking skin; Instant Cooling Mist to cool and calm hot, flushed skin for more radiant looking skin; and Firm & Bright Eye Concentrate to reduce dark under eye and eye wrinkles.

Stripes

Stripes was founded by actress Naomi Watts. She felt that women should have the opportunity to be more prepared for menopause. Watts wanted to provide a place where women can get support, solutions, and a space to navigate these midlife changes.

Stripes use clean, sustainably sourced ingredients from nature—meaning it is safe for bodies of water. Their products are science-backed, vegan, non-toxic, cruelty-free, and free of sulfate, paraben, and sulfate. Stripe strives to be green by using containers and packaging that is either refillable or recyclable.

The formulas’ key ingredients are ectoine and squalane. Ectoine helps with advanced hydration, skin texture, and moisture balance. Squalane mimics the natural oils that skin produces, is antibacterial, does not black pores, moisturizes, and promotes softer, brighter skin.

The skincare line consists of a variety of moisturizers, face creams, night creams, face serum, face cleansers, and face mists. The skincare line also has products for hair, body, vagina wellness, and supplements.
